American Heart Month
February is American Heart Month and the American Heart Association wants you to make a commitment to your heart.
Focusing on your health has never been more important! Prioritizing your heart can help you avoid severe illness. People with poor cardiovascular health are at an increased risk for heart attacks and other serious illnesses
Know the signs of a heart attack! : Pressure/tightness/discomfort in the chest area, pain radiating down your left arm, excessive sweating, shortness of breath, and dizziness.
Self-care is heart-health care - practicing self care keeps our hearts healthy. Being physically active, eating healthier foods, getting enough sleep, not smoking, and finding ways to reduce stress (meditation, reading, etc) can help prevent heart disease.
When we take care of our hearts, we set an example for others to do the same.
Make an appointment with your healthcare provider to be aware of your numbers, such as total cholesterol, body mass index, and blood pressure.
